Hey I'm having some issues. Maybe someone can help me out for next time.

I'm working on a freelance project for some clients who are in another city. I've emailed them proofs and edits via .zip files, etc.

Now, I'm trying to get my printer, my design, and the clients to get consistent color readings. I tried PMS numbers, HEX #'s.

Anyone else run into this? How can I smooth this for future jobs?

Is there EVER going to be a way to get consistent color on an open loop operation? I seriously doubt it. Too many variables.

Dude. One of my #1 headaches as a graphic designer is print color issues. I haven't found a perfect way to fix it yet.

My only recourse is to just demand a proof print before I approve a print run. At least with a proof you can see what's going to be printed (usually).

Other than that, it seems that though there is no true standard for getting color the exact way you want it at different printers. Usually once you have a repertoire with a printer, you can lay down some settings that will be "sorta" accurate all the time, but if you're jumping from printer to printer, you will always have headaches, like me.

I hear ya. At least I know now that I'm not alone in this battle...

and as far as headaches... Mine's about an inch and a half to the left of my left eye, just above the temple.

freelancing is fluxuating for me lately. I'll explain: typically it's 90% fun, 10% work. and right now it's about the opposite. and don't even get me started on the pay!

Keep that in mind, you newbies...
