hello,

I know some of you fine folks are designers professionally. You may have had this age-old problem. What problem? ? You ask... well, here it is:

I have a billion fonts (give or take a couple). Both Mac and PC. I'd like to have a application that can tell me what those fonts look like. Here's the kicker: I DONT WANT TO INSTALL THEM ALL:mad: in order to view them. I'd even like to - get this - print out a sample of each and create a font booklet.

Now, I realize there are some font utilities that are freeware or shareware that claim to be wonderful. In my experiences, these programs all generally suck. Agree?

Can anyone recommend a fix for my problem? What have some of you done to get good printable font catalogs?

thanks. I apologize for all the smilies...
:D

Is this just for you or is it to show customers??

I always just type the name of the font and abcdefg in caps and lowercases. It takes a long time and is very boring, but it is worth it in the long run when you are looking for the G with the tail or whatever.

the booklet I had in mind was just for me and my company's pre-press dept. to use as a quick reference. I suppose it could work for clients to "pick one" but that could spell disaster, potentially...

NL, I'll look up that software. thanks.

anybody else use a different app?
