I have long been and advocate of using internet relay chat to communicate instead of mediums such as icq or aim or msn. Yet, using dalnet, I only want to gouge my friggin eyes out. It's frigging pathetic how slow their network is. Maybe if the admins would stop jerkin around and run their network off of something a little faster than 300 baud modems, there wouldn' be such a problem. I dont know what the deal is. I re-connect six or seven times just so I can connect to a randomly faster server. Nothing works. nickserv, memoserv or any other commands do nothing for 10 minutes. Type it in, wait for f'ing ever. Matt, I'm sorry to tell you this, but there is a reason why I have always hated dalnet. Now I have two. |

May not be the fault of Dalnet, but it probably is. A lot of irc servers, such as undernet have experienced massive denial of service attacks against them in the past year. IRC was never created to withstand broadband packet floods, which may be happening to Dalnet. Though I assume its just dalnet being all crappy like you think. |

if it was DoS, I doubt it would be persisting for the past week and a half since the channel was formed. Script kiddies have alot of time on their hands, but not as much as this. Evenutally the systems that were compromised and used in the DoS would have been traced back and either shutdown or taken off the network. Intelligent admins would know what to do to fix the issues plaguing their network. dal net was the very first irc network I visited when I downloaded bitchx 3 years ago. even then, dalnet was slow, filled with script kiddies who's mommies don't hug them enough or general assholes who feel perfectly fine about ****ting on what could be a great network. Nope. I doubt it has anything to do with DoS attacks. If it did, I doubt I would connect at all. I think it has to do with an irc network outgrowing their bandwidth. |

I guess I've never really had any problems. I do notice that there are days that there are problems, but I've not noticed it to happen frequently.

Well that's fine, ya'll can start a new channel on another network. I just wanted DALnet so I wouldn't have to open 2 IRC programs, or have to run a script that will allow me 2 networks in one client...I just won't be there...too much of a pain in the butt for me.
