Okay, here's the issue (not really a biggy, but what the hey....): I design a site to help out a friend with a charity (the piggy site). He's a web developer and doesn't even know how to use photoshop.... He said he needed a facelift for the site, but gave me some guidelines he wanted me to adhere to. Gave him the template a coupla days, within his criteria--made the changes he wanted. The next day he sent it back to me, greatly simplifying the tables (going back to graphical buttons; which was originally on his no-no list). Okay, whatever.... The next day he sends me another version adding flash buttons which look chunky and make pig noises when you click.... yup, pig noises. He said, "Don't worry, I gave you all the credit!" Here's the problem: What if I don't want credit for flash buttons which look bad and make pig noises? Is this always an issue? Developers wanting to muck with your design and can't leave well enough alone? |

Since you did it for free as a favor, I would just ask him to take your name off of the page and not give you any credit. If you were doing it for pay, you should get a contract up front that says you have total control over certain parts of the site like the appearance. Then they have total control of the backend. |

yeah, people tend to screw with you like that when they want something for free. Just tell him you want no part of what the site looks like now that he has changed his mind. also dan, I am waiting for you on irc, but I dont see you or lustywench there. |

Its just a shame you aren't charging this person.... Then you could just say "OK!" with big dollar signs in your eyes.... but to answer your question.... Yes, it happens all the time. you prima donna, you. |

Yeah... It happens all the sh*tty time everytime something free is done. Happened to me too, the guy keep asking for more till I couldn't take it, I cancelled the agreement. Wats worse, he called himself a designer,he sucks at design and I can't get something nice to come out cause he keeps asking stupid changes. Plus, he tried to rip me off after the cancellation by taking some of the graphics I did and used it for himself. Learnt my lesson, I only do free stuff for certain people. |

While were in the "I'll never do charity work ever again mood" Id like to make a contribution. I make this interface for a guys site. I'm going to do a good job, even if it is free. We spent a couple weeks sending files and ideas over I'm and finally, after prolonged change, I send him this: This. His Co-webmaster doesn't like the gel bar. |
