Need some help.....

im working on a school project and i need to know the general price a person would charge someone to have a designer design a website for them. I was just wondering how much you guys usually ask for when you design one.........thanks

I know how much I would charge, but I don't know how much you should charge. It depends on your experience and ability. Also who you are designing the site for, how big the site is, if it requires any programming, etc, etc.

Like Deker said, you cannot just charge a flat rate unless you know your client's needs. If you adversited sites for $200, and Sony came to you, you'd be screwed. To get an accurate price, we'll have to know what your client need is. Is it a grandma wanting a site for the family reunion this summer, or is it going to be for a local business?

The company i work for charges by the hour. I don't agree this is the best practice, but I make my money either way so I really don't care. But this is not bad for us at all...a large site may cost upwards of $24,000, or a local business site may cost only $800. It really just all depends on what YOU are worth. Also, keep in mind that "designing" a site is not all it takes to complete it.

thanks guys for all of your help......i understand what you are saying but i was just wondering if there was a general price range for what you do......but thanks anyways.......i have an idea of what i could do.......im not really making a site for anyone we are making some retarted database crap and i need to make up some fake information.......so its not something i really need..ill just make something up........thanks again.......:p
