I need to make myself a portfolio. I was wondering how do you guys put your images in your portfolio, or like what kind of materials do you get to present your portfolio. Cause I need a nice way to present my websites, images and so on. I want to make everything look as professional as possible. As stupid as it might seem, this is what is stopping me from going to find another job cause basically I think I need to come up with a really proffesional looking portfolio. Also one more question, for any images I made in photoshop, illustrator and so on, where is a good place to get them printed out to look very nice? |

Here's what I did - in a nutshell - it 'aint cheap. Make some nice, printable screenshots of sites you've done, or web graphics, etc. This means 300 dpi or so, 150 can look nice, too. Don't put everything you've ever done in it, either, just the best of the best - and make it as broad as possible. Put together a nice leather portfolio that's big enough for all your work to fit in. Burn a CD for your printer - of everything you want printed, take it to someone with a killer printer. I used a Kodak Thermal Dye-sublimation printer at my last job. You may not be able to find one of those, so look for an IKON or a KINKY's, and ask to see how good their best prints look. Then decide who to print your stuff. Be sure it's all consistent on nice photo paper. then, I just used nice sleeves to keep them in. Print dupes, too, so you can give one to them if they really dig it - to keep with your resume. pretty common sense stuff otherwise. good luck!! |

Depends how serious you are about it. In design school your portfolio presentation is a big deal, there's actually tons of books written on the subject. You might browse around amazon.com and pick one up... Chris |
