I just want this to be a thread where everyone's idea of their ultimate graphics editor would be. Now certainly Photoshop is nice, but I have felt it can use even more additions. Which would mainly be the integration of other programs. 1. A fully integrated program that combined Photoshop, Imageready, & Illustrator. Photoshop already works well with Imageready, but yet the two programs still aren't totally perfectly made for each other. A true integration would be a great thing. The addition of a total Illustrator suite of vector tools and abilities would only further my dream. 2. True 48-bit color graphics editing. I asked a question about such a program in the advanced photoshop questions area, but I still would love to see a program come out that could handle this. My only true issue with 24-bit color is the banding that occurs at high DPI image gradients, which would be solved with such a depth of color, but it likely will remain a dream for some time to come. I also am still not sure a normal monitor could handle such a color range. 3. The brush abilities of Painter in Photoshop form. Its already sorta available as Deep Paint (not Deep Paint 3D), but I don't have the money to get it, nor am I really willing to spend the $250 it costs for the addition. Though the demo is quite nice. 4. A refining of the Radial Blur filter and the Extrude filter. Radial Blur needs to be made a bit more smooth looking with its results, instead of the grain it currently leaves. If that would be removed, it would be a very good filter to use. The extrude filter needs to become an actual extrude, such as in 3D rendering programs. Perhaps stick it into the "render" filters section so that you can adjust all variables, including lighting. Or perhaps include this as a layer style, for dynamic adjustment. 5. Layer sets within layer sets. It would be very nice to be able to take a large group of layers you stuck in a set, and just stick the whole set within another, without having to manually move the layers out of the set they're in. |

1. A fully integrated program that combined Photoshop, Imageready, & Illustrator. Hmm I dunno. Either you want a pixel-based program or a vector-based program. It would be nice to be able to create lil vector shapes and have all the abilities and tweaking that vector images can have, but thats not really illustrator-specific. 5. Layer sets within layer sets. It would be very nice to be able to take a large group of layers you stuck in a set, and just stick the whole set within another, without having to manually move the layers out of the set they're in. Yes, i did find that a bit annoying. It sort of defeats the purpose of making them look like folders when they can't really even act like them. I pet you 10 bucks that its in their update. And its not like they didn't know ahead of time that this would be something people wanted. Umm i dunno i sorta like photoshop the way it is. IT would be neat to be a bit more vector, i don't use image ready expect for animated gifs so beyond that its pretty useless to me. Perhaps be more friendly when contracting selections, but i think thats bug that might not be able to be fixed since it has to do with whatever math they used to contract it. Its been there since 3 i believe. |

a program with the ease of photoshop with 3d rendering capabilities of 3D max i don't know if its me but i find 3dmax quite difficult to use or its just that i don't know how to use it, layer sets.. u mean grouping?? that'll be nice, but layer overlapping might be a problem?? i wonder if adobe will ever create a 3d rendering proggy??... seems like photoshop and illustrator are one of the best proggies around, if not better.. errr.. i thought ps6 has vertor capabilities??? |

Photoshop 6 has the abilities to create lil folders called 'sets' What i use them for alot is i will create something, decide i don't like it, but i don't want ot delete it, but alot of those 'maybe later' images can get the layer list pretty bulky. So i create a Layer set and throw all the stuff i don't need, but want to keep, in there and turn it OFF so it doesn't show. Another thing its good for is keep specific parts of your webpage seperate. IE the interface buttons can all be in a set that you can turn off and on at will. It, more or less. would be like storing layers in one area and being able to turn them all off and on at the same time. and KPT 3d studio Max is a program unto itself. I don't even want to imagine how builky photoshop would be with stuff like that. and the reason its hard is because you have alot of controlover your images. Why i still twitch when i look an Illustrator images and try to change them. Theres just alot more invovled. |

It does. Just not all the tools and capabilities that Illustrator itself has. I'm talking about total integration with Illustrator, not just the ability to open up illustrator files as raster images or exporting your paths over for editing in Illustrator. With a true integration, it would allow for no import/export issues, plus give you all the tools and capabilities of Illustrator. Not just the pen and shape tools. With illustrator you can make vector masks (something I wish Photoshop already had), vector gradients, text on paths, better stroke options, and a slew of other features that I won't add here. Adobe did make a 3D program, of sorts, called "dimensions", but from what I've seen its very old and crappy compared to current 3D rendering programs (such as 3DSMax). |

I want to be able to have my neural implant tell the program what I want it to do and it does it all itself. No tablet. No mouse. Just sit in front of the computer, or some type of long range transmitting device. Hell I could even draw in photoshop over my cell phone if I wanted to. But if you really want to know what I want back, it's image>>resize>>mathematic . I really miss that. Also, an intergrated color harmony thing would be excellent. There is a plugin for photoshop for it, but since adobe is moving photoshop towards the web, just intergrate it into the program. |

Yah I was really disapointed in Photoshop suposed vector abilities. I was hoping to be able to edit them like other vector programs handle vector images and just be able to rasterize it if needed be. |
