Random words make it fair, and the more odd the phrase is the harder it is to make a good design. i.e. "Angry man" and "sitting dog" is a lot easier than "Frustrated Airplane" or "computer chicken"

Sounds fun. There should also be the option for the person being challenged to decline the challenge though. If they are really busy in finals week or something and don't have time to be making pretty pictures of angry dog computers.

Would we have everyone submit a list of words to be put into the random word generator thingy? This sounds more and more fun the more I think about it. Reminds me of some projects I had to do in Typography class. If we wanted it to be really competitive, we could devise a scoring system to be displayed in the user's profile or under the name on every post. How many 'wins' and 'losses' and maybe how many challenges they have declined. I don't think it really needs to be competitive though. I think the real value would be gained from trying to express something through just your art. I learned a lot from doing that in that Typo class, and I think it would be very beneficial to everyone to do this. Would we allow words to be used? What about photographs? Some similar competition I've seen only allow you to use the computer to do things. No words, photos, scans, etc. |
