I dual-boot linux occasionally. I don't use it as my primary OS, but from what I've used of it it is really nice. Much better than windows anyway. But then, anything is better than windows. One day I will have a Mac. Then I will have the best of both worlds. Great GUI, and Unix on the back end. Hooray.

I am forced to run Windows because it is a monopoly and the whole freakin' world uses it and I have to be able to run certain programs in Windows that aren't availabe in Linux. I don't really have a choice. If I did, I would run Linux all the time. Like I said earlier, when I get Mac, there will be no more windows for me except to test web sites. You pro-windows people are annoying. |

That is completely irrelevant. Just because there are more programs for Windows doesn't make it better. The only reason there are more programs for Windows is because there are more computers running Windows. Not because Windows is better. There are probably a lot more Honda Civics in the world than Porsche 911's, but that doesn't mean that the Honda Civic is better, does it? |

i agree totally with deker... i'm forced to use it cause the whole world is using it... i have redhat, mandrake and freebsd cds waiting to be installed... the reason i didn't is cause i don't use it that much... i need to use the space for other stuff my school doesn't support linux, my friends are too "dumb" to use it... i wanna use Mac cause its said to be better at graphics.. but i can't but one again because NODOBY in school, nor school has support for it so i have no option but winblowz... hopefully linux will be no.1 and more softwares are made for it... and pls... don't make this thread another debate about which is better.. if u don't like it don't use it or you've not tried it yet?? |

Well my personal opinion is that a OS needs a few things 1: Easy to use 1: Supports lots of programs 3: Stable Winxp has all of that for me linux might be very stable but if it doesn't support most programs you don't have any use of it. second if the OS is a bitch to install it won't be used by lots of people who use their compie just for fun. so windows id better. |
