 Which browsers, and which versions of said browsers would you guys recommend testing for compatibility. I'd also be curious to hear what demographics you guys feel (and percentages pertaining to) use each of those browsers.... I realize it's important to understand your user base to evaluate further, but on a general basis all opinions are welcomed. |

Test Windows: IE 4.0, 5.5, 6.0 (probably don't really need to test 5.5) Netscape 4.7(eww), 6.0 Opera 5. Mac: Same as windows + iCab, omniweb, and any other Mac specific browsers. Linux: Netscape. I don't think IE is on Linux. Konquerer, which is KDE's native browser. Supposed to support standards as good if not better than Opera though. so if you code to standards, you should be ok. As for percentages, on my sites it's about 80% IE, 10% Netscape, and 10% everything else. |

Here are the browser stats for the month of September 2001 of one of the sites we host: I took the one with one of the lower stats of IE...some of the other sites I feel may have biased stats. http://www.rdi1.com/browser.htm EDIT: Here are the stats for another non-biased site: http://www.rdi1.com/browser2.htm |
