desperately seeking free images

I just discovered this site via the newest Kelby photoshop Killer Tricks book. Bravo! I can see myself utilizing this site to the max.
Nice job! - now on with my dilemma -

Anybody know any sites that offer free images? I've been to a few, not finding any...I'm seeking firemen images in particular. I use them strictly for mock designs. I'm not into ripping off peoples ****, (I'm a photographer, I feel their pain) I just need some for demo work.

seeking hi-res, but I can make do with whatever.

Yeah, this site is mentioned on pg 204 (with Adobe.com) of the newest Kelby creation, Photoshop 6 killer tips. Good, handy, book, so far. It shows a screenshot of the home page then this write up:
