Microphone trouble!

i was wondering about why my mic isn't working it worked perfectly on my old computer (finally got my new computer yesterday) and now it won't work it all on this new computer i have a simple 5.1 3D sound card and i have looked everywhere to try and fix it. So if anyone that has had or knows this please let me know :D

Wow... where to start....

Hmmmm, trying to diagnosis a hardware issue based on 1 1/2 run-on sentences is not easy.

Make sure you have properly reinstalled and configured hardware drivers on the new system. Make sure the Advanced settings for sound hardware are properly configured in the Control Panel (make sure the mic or wave input is not muted). Beyond that, Merry Christmas, I hope you enjoy your new puter!

make sure it's plugged in the right hole.
