I am about to begin a logo design for a web developers collaboration site. The only preliminary instructions are to make it clean & professional--in the guise of a software development company.

Given those parameters...
has anyone seen examples of logos that are interesting--or have some suggestions in terms of how to thematically approach this?

I like to go to the bookstore and pick up (or stay for an hour and read) a few $14 design mags... good food for thought, and good to catch on to recent trends.

thematically...well, have a theme come up with an idea and do lots of thumbnails, find one or two you like and flesh them out in illustrator...then rinse and repeat.

gg, i buy HOW all the time and usually thumb through the others. HOW's got some great articles and their 'design awards' issues have some great work.
