Problem with one of the tuts

in the "A great way to make reflections in your images" tut if found that in photoshop CS2 you have to rasterize your copy of the intial text or pic, ( the one thats fliped lol) before you can use the perspective transformation, now correct me if im wrong but i scracthed my head for a coupel hours & and cursed at the computer, and when i went and did another text edit it had asked me to rasterize the text so i did and went to check if i could then select perspective transformation and to my delight i could.

(this only happens with typed text and not a picture of text)

I have no idea whit what version of photohop the tuts were done but this is what i found for photoshop CS2

Aren't these tuts like 4 years old? I think they were made with either 5.5 or 6.0.

they could be actually. you can tell from the screeshot that the text layer has been rendered if not, but i can see how it could be a bit confusing.
