Hey guys,
Been awhile since I started a post, so I figured I might as well.
Ok, here's the situation:
I'm creating a website that will track what song you are listening to and do a number of things with that (ie, create a .png image). It's like those other now-playing sites (but I plan to make it better) One of the first ideas for the name was "audioflame" (that's all lowercase). How would you 'rate' this name? Is it relevant? Is it easy to remember/sounds good? Anything else? Any other comments are appreciated.

Thanks

Galaphile

Hmmm.... first glance brought to mind the negative connotation of 'flaming' (in a forum, not in a video with Richard Simmons).

I think you could do some awesome things with the logo for it, tho... I'm kinda stumped. On second glance I like it much better.

Put me on the fence and call me Kitty!

Hey Kitty ;)
Yeah, I was considering the 'flaming' aspect of it. Thanks for mentioning that though. I don't think that that slang is powerful enough to make the site seem low quality--is it?
More comments appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I like audioflame, I'm not on the fence, so don't call me Kitty. So no, I don't think the name is childish, or low-quality. Heck, I think it's better than "Audioslave", though not as good as "Grand Theft Audio", or "Earshot". One thing I would go away from, is a desire to keep in in lower-case. I would capitalize the first letter: Audioflame. There, now it looks like the name of a subwoofer or amplifier manufacturer. And as I typed this, I actually ran and did a trademark search (www.uspto.gov) and it didn't come up, so you've got something original too.

I don't know why, but 'flame' isn't doing it for me.

It sounds just a little too...Newbie-ish? I don't know. It kind of hearkens back to a juvenile connotation. Like naming the site 'AudioBlade', or something.

That's just the way I'm hearing it. And really, I don't know why. It just sounds like it was maybe the first thing that came to mind? Not to say that it is, but that's just my 2 cents.

I agree with Pganguly, it sounds really geocities like. And audio and flame don't match in my head.

Ok, thanks for those comments. Regarding the childish-ness aspect of the name, two people seemed to think it was too childish, and two didn't. Anymore opinions so I can get a better view? Thanks, and sorry for being so persistant

It doesn't sound childish to me. In my opinion it's an easy, sharp sounding name. It also puts clear/vivid images in my head when i hear it (somewhat memorable). Now im my mind it could represent two things. One, a car stereo kinda product, or two.... a singles/charts kinda list. Not quite what your doing, but I think the name is adaptable.

If you did something like :
AudioFlame : Listening To Whats Hot
AudioFlame : Sizzling Songs
AudioFlame : Scorching tunes
or in the png had a title like : Currently On Fire - song name

i think it would work fine.

Hmm...I'm liking that idea Rodder--I'll think about theming the site. Thanks guys, I think I'll stick with the name and see how it turns out.

Actually, I've been brainstorming more and I'm not really content with audioflame. It just doesn't sound right...so my next idea is 'solaraudio'. Not sure of the capitalization either ;) Sorry to go through all of this again, but can you guys evaluate this name for the same things--relevance, easy to remember, etc.? Comments, again, are appreciated, and thanks.
