Hello, I have a question regarding attaining a degree. I'm thinking of going to Canada to study. I'm interested in graphics design, 3d animation etc. Currently in NYC. How would a degree (bachelors) from Canada compare to a degree from the U.S.? Would the degree be seen as equal? Thanks Fess |

It's a personnal opinion, but I'd say it's pretty equal. At least if you come study at Montreal, it's probably the best place in Canada. People from the US come here to recruit our best artists and programers (meh). It's people from here who created SoftImage and Ubisoft announced that they were gonna hire 1000 new employees along the 1000 others they already have. This will make Montreal the biggest development studio of Ubisoft. And not to say Montreal is considered to become the biggest city for video game development and other stuff like that (like the annimated movies. etc) |

to be honest the degree doesnt matter as much as your work, if you rock you rock no matter what school you went to. 6 or 8 years ago you could land a job at ILM or di$ney just by graduating from the right school, not the case anymore. at the same time as entry level positions are harder to come by its definitely a huge plus to be at a school that studios are actively recruiting from. i'd say do some research, figure out exactly what you want to do (VERY important as 3d/design/etc encompasses a large variety of areas) and find the best school for that with regards to their program and job placement, wherever that would be. chris |
