Firefox update?

Hey, I got that message from Firefox that I had to download a patch to get the latest version of it, but for some reason now, I lost everything I had stored.... EVERYTHING, all my favorites gone and this is really bad. I had a load of them that were very important, anyone know if there's a way I could get them back or something?

Firefox won't ditch anything, so you must have done something.

i remember once i switched between using firefox .9 then firefox .8 then back to .9. but when i went back to .9, i lost all the .8 favorites and it kept the old .9 ones

I know like yesterday I went on my pc and then when I opened Firefox, a box poped up and told me that a user was already using this profile and that I had to make a new one to use the browser... or something like that. I don't know what I've done, but anyone know how to switch profile?
