Britney Best of Already?

Has anyone else noticed how many semi new / semi old artists have put out a greatest hits album recently? I don’t remember anyone from the 60’s and 70’s putting out a greatest hit’s unless they broke up or unless it had been 20 or 30 years and they had a whole bunch of material to sort through.

It didn’t surprise me that Britney Spears is releasing greatest hits after a whopping 5 year career. But then I thought of Everclear, Live, Korn, and No Doubt. What’s the deal?

I can even tell that they know what their doing is pretty lame. Who the hell would write new material for a greatest hits album just to sell it or to make sure you get your money’s worth? The greatest hits would sell themselves if these artists would just let their music ripe a little. Anyone else agree?

Yeah its pretty ridiculous...

Though I think 'Live' deserves a greatest hits album, they're out there quite some time now, had a decent career.
I don't buy greatest hits albums anyway. If I like a band, I have all their albums and their best songs already.

I think they probably release a greatest hits album now once they have enough singles to fill up a cd so people will buy all of the same songs again. Or maybe they never bought all of their albums and only want the hit songs.

What I think is ridiculous is a good chunk of people are buying these greatest hits albums for the new material on them. That amounts to like 1 or 2 songs.

Yeah I think Live deserves one, but I wish they would keep going and then look back and reflect on their career. It feels like their selling themselves short. Like “Here’s all the songs you guys liked incase our new material sucks.”

Spectra, you mean you don’t have all their albums!!! Aww man ;)

no need to purchase greatest hits albums when you already have the original disks.

"Artists" such as Brittany are a joke. They rarely, if ever, write their own music or lyrics. They can't play instruments and generally have nothing going for them other than a pretty face and a slew of pudd pumping juveniles following her every move.

I long for the day when people who write original music rule the MTV world once again and I can point and laugh and scream at the top of my lungs that...

ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE!

ps. Best Live disc is a toss up between Mental Jewlery and Secret Samadi.
