for a while they had an ebay offer where all you had to do was setup an ebay account and be the high bidder on an item. No credit card needed, and you didn't have to buy the item as long as you were outbid.

Thats how i helped my friend out, i feel suckered now that they dont have that anymore :( and he has his free ipod :( :(
