8pm Eastern 5pm Pacific Is this all hype for you baseball fans? Or, like me, is this the series you really want to watch? I hate both teams, just I hate NY waaaaay more. I can't wait until this game starts. My entire day has been based around waiting for it. Boston wins this series though in 6 games (please not 7, I get really hyped up, and watching last years catastrophic melt down was enough). That is unless the Yankee's shaky starting pitching keeps them in it until the 7th. Then the bullpen can hold them in it. Otherwise, this BoSox team is way too complete. Tonight: Boston 6 - New York 3 (New York has a tendancy to lose Game 1) By the way, good job Houston. I was rooting SanFran the entire way, but I'm so glad to see another October fall short in Atlanta. First series win in 43 years... Unreal. I like the Cards lineup, but if the Yankee's beat Boston, then I'd love to see The Rocket burn them in the WS. |

yeah, we're pretty pumped here, its been a while we owned the cards in the series with them that last week of the season, but they did rest a few guys and had nothing to really play for. if we get some good games from backe and munro out of the gate then we're in good shape with rocket and oswalt coming in for games 3 and 4. i think we're gonna take em, astros in six. looking forward to watching the bosox and yankees again, that was an AMAZING series last year. i really do want to want to see the sox take it but the yankees just seem to find a way to win ballgames. in my mind its a toss-up, sox will prob take game 1 tho. chris |

Houston REALLY misses Pettite (for the record, one of the most boneheaded moves the Yankees could have done is let this playoff performer go). It would be nice for them to have their ace (Rocket) pitching Games 1,4, and 7. I wouldn't have pitched him in Game 4, instead, save him for Game 5 if they needed him (and they did). But at least they made it. I like their chances in this series, simply because the Cards are also a bit banged up and don't have the depth in pitching as well. They more or less need their big bats. I love the ESPN website. The NY/Boston takes up the whole freaking page practically. |

Series... there's a series going on? Only sports I can make time for are playoff hockey, and some football (the football is just to spend time with the wife)! |

ugh...i hate to blame garner, and can't for everything, but the Stros have been horribly mismanaged the past few games. we haven't seen lidge at all, have a few killer pinch hitters in jason lane and mike lamb that aren't being used much, seem to be pulling our no-name starters rather early when they're still looking fairly solid (and they have held up incredibly well considering how bad they're supposed to suck). we do rock in houston and can definitely take at least two of three (and possibly all three) here, but there's got to be a spark for us to get back in these series. we haven't been losing badly, just making too many mistakes and not catching any breaks. and while i'd love to see the sox get back in it i really don't see it happening. they just haven't looked that sharp so far unfortunately. chris |

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting before me. I was walking home after getting a coffee actually debating posting something about this...but I am soooo superstitious, that after my initial posts, both teams got so beaten down, that I didn't want to chance it. First off. Beltran: Say whaaaaaat? That guy is gonna be rich Backe: 8 Innings, 1 hitter Can you say Oswalt Game 6 with Rocket as a backup plan I nearly wish I could have seen this game...it looked like it was a classic...but 6 hours of the ALCS had me right fired up. Soooo. Its way too early to think about Game 7, but Schilling looks ready and game 6 should be a classic. Boston could of won this last game so many times. I nearly threw my table through the tv at the misplays. But wow, these teams have to be exhausted. I believe NY has some serious emotional drain at this point. But that remains to be seen. Game 6 tomorrow. |

backe was phenomenal, talk about stepping up...wow. and beltran's pricetag goes up with every pitch...the guy is sick. and i don't think kent liked them pitching around berkman to get to him, i was actually saying "you know, kent is the all-time leader in hr's for second baseman and has the experience, he's a dangerous guy to pitch to in this situation..." not sure about game 6 in the nlcs...oswalt would be going on two days rest if he throws game 6, pretty tough. clemens would have three days, or you could go with munro (who threw a pretty solid game in game 2), then have a rested clemens or oswalt to throw game 7 if necessary or even to come in midway thru game 6 if needed. schilling pitching game 6 hurt could become a baseball story you tell your kids in ten years... that's gonna be a fun one, would love to see the sox do it. chris |
