< tech > Hello. How may I help you.
< user > My internet's down.
< tech > Ok. I cannot see your modem, so lets try a power cycle.
< tech > Turn off your modem, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
< user > done.
< tech > Hmm. Nothing. Lets try the test again.
< tech > please repeat the process for 30 seconds.
< user > alright
< tech > Im still not getting a signal. Please hold
< user > (horrible music playing for 10 minutes)
< tech > Lets try the test again, this time turn off all equipment and wait.
< tech > Still no signal. I'll schedule a technician to visit the property. Please hold.
< user > (horrible music playing for 10 more minutes)
< tech > Ok. Anything else I can help you with?
< user > yeah, my phone line isn't plugged in. Can we do this again?

Now the funny part is, a few weeks ago I ACTUALLY MADE that call. (im an idiot). It was a legit call though, my internet was down prior to me screwing with the phone's wires, I just forgot to plug it back in when I decided to call tech ( i never call tech....i hate tech support...and im usually smart enough to figure it out on my own lol).

Im sure that story got passed around the office! lol

edit: .......... and if it wasn't, well the call was recorded so im sure it'll be played back at the office christmas party. oops.

Bah. That reminds me - I need to call Comcast and find out why my upload is only 30kbps (instead of the 256kbps that it should be).

Hopefully you're not mistaking kilobits per second and kilobytes per second ...

Sometimes my transfer with Comcast is mind numbingly slow, yet other times it is very fast, (I've seen up to 4 mbps) so, I guess it is pretty much variable to the server loads.

I believe I have 256 kbit/s upload, and it uploads at around 35 kb/s. So possible, he is confusing the two. I byte = 8 bits ;)

Galaphile is right, Your rated upload speed is 256 kilobits, so your upload speed should be 30-35 kilobytes/second.
