"Holographic Versatile Disk" sounds so much cooler than "Digital Video Disk" (that's what DVD stands for, right?)... it's like something from the future (in which we're currently living).

A transfer speed of one gigabyte per second and up to 1TB on a single disc. Man..these things look awesome! Say goodbye to boxed sets :D |

I’m sure this will sound like a dumb question but will they be compatible with dvd players out now? Or are they going to try and get everyone to convert yet again like they did with vhs and dvd?

i'm sure they wont be compatible, and to be honest i doubt they'll catch on anytime soon so it doesnt really matter anyway. do some looking and you'll find lots of similar technologies, there's was a really cool clear disc a while back. for now there's not really a need for it that i can see, dvd's work fine and hold enough data for what they do. sure, there's always a bigger/better/faster option out there, but that doesnt mean its going to get picked up and used. heck, beta was a better technology than vhs chris |
