im still what you call "aspiring" like many people are. I'm just getting a little frustrated because i can see wonderful things in my head but dont have to skills to get them down on the screen, or even on paper. I guess i just want to ask if anybody else has this trouble? and how you guys suggest learning the tools. I know there are tutorials and what not, but are there any tricks of the trade? or things that may help others? sorry if this has been asked a million times

I know what you are talking about. I still have that. What I suggest is just doing a sh*tload of stuff. Just keep on cranking out stuff and looking at other sites and emulating small effects and then keep adding them to your own projects. Learning how to draw helps too. I still suck at that though, but I constantly doodle and try to improve. Another thing that helped me a lot was the get the PSD for a website that was extremely professional and graphics intensive. Looking at that helped me a lot. |

hmmm. tough question. Is there anything specific your having trouble with?? Not sure how much help i can be, im the exact opposite. I have the skills but my head is empty lol. What tele said though, "looking at other sites and emulating small effects" is a good idea. Find something you like, then try to recreate exactly (no need to get creative). That'll help a bit with the tools. Another thing (also related to tele) is practice constantly. I almost want to suggest staying away from tutorials. They're good (some anyway).....but they're really a 1 time deal......because the techniques you'll use really change with each project. There's never just a single way to do something (as tutorials teach) so you gotta find a a way that fits the project best ( i think that makes sense). |
