Hey, I finally got around to setting up my XP firewall. But a bit confused: This resource has some additional steps, not sure what purpose it serves? http://www.qsl.net/vk2jtp/xpfirewall.htm All the other tutorials usually stop after you check the box that enables the "Internet Connection Firewall". Does anyone know what's the purpose of the extra steps? Thanks Fess |

I could not get that page to load, but you will need to do special configurations, or enable other protocols to run, or if you need to allow other resources, such as HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, or any special access ports for special software that talks over the network or internet. OK, I got that page to come up. That is specific instructions for allowing their software to work over the XP firewall. If you are not running EchoLink, then you don't need to worry about those specific instructions. |
