haha - I'm not the best one to ask these...we don't even live on the same continent. I'm not sure how stuff goes there...but I'm sure that if the tablet is still in the "grace" period - the warranty or whatever - you can get them to change it - no matter what. Unless you purposefully broke it with a sledghammer. The shop guys always try to get you to agree to a "repair" even if the waranty entitles you to a replacement or total refund. Don't listen to them - just tell them you want a new one or your money back.

If BestBuy is the "real life" rep of buy.com then it might work..but you'll have to check your papers - the ones that came with the tablet - it must be written somewhere how to return it

Ok, thanks.

Nah, those two are totally unrelated.

Nos.

Box it up and put it on eBay. DOn't even lie about it not working, if you don't care about a bad rating. lol Just don't metion if it works or not, that way they can't get you on it. "Wacom tablet with box, condition is just like it was when I took it out of the box"

Master the mouse first. That's what I do.

All of my stuff was done with a mouse. I think that if you make the process more difficult for yourself while learning, then when doing it the "easy way" will be that much...easier.

No man, that's wrong. This isn't a Shaolin monastery. The difference between a mouse and a tablet is that the tablet comes with a pen-like device. Drawing with a mouse is like using a big rock to scratch on the pavement. It doesn't teach you better discipline. It just makes it extremely difficult to master the technique. If you go to a drawing class do they start you out with a rock? no. They put a pencil in your hand and give you a sheet of paper.

The difference between good art and bad art is not given by the object you hold while making it. The important part is learning how to draw good whith something you're comfortable with, not making it harder on purpose.

Lol...shaolin monastery. That's awesome.

I dunno, in my experience, if you learn a technique with the second or third best medium for a given style, then the result of using the preferred media will look that much better because you typically have a much greater attention to detail.

I do agree with you, and I've had/used tablets in the past. In fact, when I learned photoshop, there was a tablet on the computer I was using. I do like them, and I do concede that there's a different style with a tablet, but that doesn't make or break the piece. I do like them, but for the time being, I'm not losing sleep over not having one. In fact, as you said above, it's the artist, not the tool that makes an interesting work. That's what I'm trying to prove as well.

It's completely a matter of personal preference, but I just don't think that tablets are really the saving grace that they're often made out to be on other forums. Namely some concept design forums that I'm on.

Tablets are good, and I do like them, but as far as digital painting is concerned, if you're relatively new to the style, then a mouse might be a good place to start, and if you get a wacom after mastering painting with a mouse, you'll be that much better at it.
