Jester is right. Franz Ferdinand is the most recent band whose music is so simplistic and yet it's done with such badass attitude.

I downloaded their whole album, it's awesome. check out "jacqueline" and the "dark of the matinee", and "this fire." You'll like em.
I love dark of the matinee. As soon as the album goes on sale I think I'm going to pick it up.

In an old crate in my old roommate's basement I found Manfred Mann's Plains Music (1991). An awesome album of music derived from the North American Plains indians.

Another of my personal favorites is Marillion. Season's End, Misplaced Childhood, and Holidays in Eden are all excellent.

I'm also a big Jimmy Buffett fan. I have all his albums. And I also like anything by Enya. Shepherd Moons and The Memory of Trees are 2 excellent albums.

Damn Deker I never knew that you had that good taste in music....
Okey if you leave Britney Spears and avril lavigne.
I listen to those bands and about 10 more that is pretty similar to those bands.
It's just nice background music when you work.
Then when I jump in my car I like listening to Slipknot and system of a down and music like that. it gives you the whole wow Ride feeling :P

deker:

John Frusciante (Red hot chili pepper's guitarist - his solo stuff) - all

I misseed this the first time around, but when I saw them live, my friend and I were talking and we mentioned about how even though he plays kickass on his albums, his live performance was just mindblowing. My friend commented on how he might've been on the same level as Jimi. I don't know if that's overdoing it, but his live stuff iis absolutely incredible. He's a great guitarist.

Flea is really badass too.

I noticed a couple or a few of you had dntel. I was actually kind a disappointed when I listened to (Life is full of possibilities). Way too experimental for me I guess. The Postal Service seemed more complete. (Not talking about the vocals.)
