If you're bootloader has changed to GRUB already you can remove it by booting to the XP disc and then going to the recovery console and typing 'fixmbr' this should remove GRUB and replace it with the original XP bootloader.
Boot into repair mode and type at the console: FIXMBR and it will repair the windows mbr with the windows boot loader.

When I said root I meant /root not / ... I have spent so much time with BSD that the subtle differences show - lol... Typically you are given 256 MB for /root, but I like to keep it at 512 as its a good place to store administration crap... (well for me at least)

All you have to do is put the disk in and set up the patitions again.
Oh ok, no problem, i just misread :D

It's no problem at all, all i have to do is format that 80GB that i put Linux on. It's a good thing i kept the OS's on seperate HD's, because knowing me i could ruin my Windows partition within afew hours :D If the problem continues, then i will enter repair mode and all that. The thing is, it keeps trying to boot to Linux first, and i get an error. Like i said, it seems formatting should do the trick.

I'll tell you how take two goes in afew days, thanks guys

Check in BIOS and make sure your boot cd drive has first boot priority over the hard drive. Then it should boot off the cd.

I got it running, but i wrote over the WinXP boot info with GRUB, so i can't access any OS unless i boot to the WinXP CD. I'm just going to format both hard drives and make sure that doesn't happen again. With me moving into a dorm this next week, it's a good time to format anyway. I really like the look of fedora, especially how you can customize the look and layout of your desktop on the fly!

ONE QUESTION, THOUGH: What do you guys have set for your default OS? Windows? I know it really doesn't matter, but i am just interested in seeing..

You can put windows in grub so it's one of your choices, no reason to reinstall. I forget the correct code, but search on the net and it's well documented. You'll be looking for grub.conf or menu.lst, probably in /etc/grub? or in /boot/grub ?

I got sick of dual booting so all I have right now is a FreeBSD server and a winXP box (seperate boxes)

Yeah, WinXP is one of the options in GRUB, but if i don't have the XP CD in the drive, i get "ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM", and don't even see the GRUB screen.

I think a format would be a good choice, at any rate.

That might have the answer, I just did a quick google search. But there are a few things you can do. Also check out bugzilla @ redhat.com .

Ah, with all this Linux talk I decided to put FC2 on my pIII 600 and use it as a spare desktop for wonderful things like Gaim, xmms, and I want to test out Quanta...

After a grueling install, had some issues, but I figured out I had to set my hdd (in BIOS) to use a scheme to match the isntalled partioning thing ma bobber... Now it boots :D
I will decide in the next week if I want to keep it or not -lol...
