Yeah Windows isn't like OSX Cybling, you can't just drag and drop programs to move them around. Windows depends on the registry too much, whereas on the Mac everything is contained in the app itself. (Which is really just a folder of files disguised as a single app)

DLL's and all that sh*t have become the bane of my existence since having to switch back to windows. At skool, I could take out my powerbook (trump their network's assorted locks) and drag whichever apps that they had, that wanted, into my applications folder. Usually with a little tweaking, they worked every time. |

Not that crap again... Havan't we have enough of PC vs Mac **** here?.. Can't you just accept, there's competition? If there's no Mac, XP wouldn't look the way it is now or vise versa, which ever you prefer. This thread is about formatting issues..
Actually, most of them will work even without registry entrys. I did it on my F: drive.
Yeah some programs do that... I remember Unreal 1 you could just copy your entire Unreal folder onto a disk and when you re installed just save it back, open the folder and double click the unreal.exe icon and you were back to normal. But not all apps work that way with windows. You do need to have registry keys entered. |
