So I need to find a monitor for my new computer. I'm on an extremely tight budget, so I'm looking for somehting under 200, or maybe 300 if i have to pay that much. I'm hoping to get a 19" Flat Screen CRT (I'd love LCD, but waaayyy too expensive). Is my price range too low to get anything decent. What do you suggest? I want a pretty good monitor for graphics and stuff like that.

Didnt think there was such things as flat CRT (Cathode Ray Tubes). I thought you could only get flat LCDs and TFTs but maybe im wrong.. Anyway just search in google..http://www.dealtime.com/xPP-Monitors--9844_price_range_300_400~PG-18

I got a nice Mitsubishi flat CRT for $300, so that shouldn't be a too unreasonable budget for a CRT. Just search around for a good deal on newegg.com or something. I usually look at the PC building guides at www.sharkyextreme.com to find good monitor recommendations.

Cybling, they are still large 60lb. monitors, but the glass is flat, rather than rounded or "bubbled". That's what he's referring to.

Usually when you say 'Flat Screen' you're not really talking about the glass though are you? I would sree a flat screen as a monitor thats thin and flat. Meh i dunno. Save up and buy the new Apple cinema displays :D |

That is a good choice. Here is the 19" Flat screen CRT I have. http://www.maginnovision.com/product/products-crt-fs-996.htm Oh yeah, and flat CRTs are referred to as flat screens, and flat LCDs are referred to as flat panels. |

I like the specs... I just can't find it anywhere. http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/aseries/a90fplus/ That's what I'm thinking of going with. Any comments? |

Well, if you are really serious about graphics, print, etc. you might want a CRT (like the ones others have already said). CRTs render colors better than LCDs. But it seems you've already decided that EDIT: That monitor seems pretty good. The dot pitch, 0.25mm, is average. The refresh rate for 1280x1024 and 1024x768 is good. Plus, the weight isn't bad for a 19 inch CRT. |
