These pictures aren't all the great... so it's not in the photo section... this can also sort of go with the homeland security thread... There is a place called Stevens Canyon here, at the end of it's main road was the place in the pictures. It's an abandoned (or at least looks like it) Stanford University geophysical research site; I googled, turns out that they are/were using it because it's smack-dab in the middle of the San Andreas fault and a 1989 earthquake originated there. The big white truck hasn't moved since 1992 (license plate sticker). Video of me walking around - quicktime - 14MB http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1222.MOV http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1207.jpg http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1208.jpg http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1209.jpg http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1211.jpg http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1212.jpg http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/100_1213.jpg |

Hmm... I though that my vb3-powered gallery would suffice. Sorry NL, that I made you remove all those [img] tags :( Here's the directory... it was always there: http://slonik.w3bbix.net/images/abandon/ |

I wouldn't have been as nice. I would have just deleted them all and made you do it again. :D Or just edited all of your posts with a find and replace of the tags. But still. I would have been mean. But cool pictures, not as cool as that lady who supposedly drove through that atomic wasteland or soemthing, but cool never the less.

Engines, rusted mechanical equipment, pipes and broken gauges. Great. Now why don't you break into the facility and take some indoor shots? ... unless the doors were bolted shut and had 5in steel blastdoors behind 'em. You have this great opportunity to take interior shots of an abandoned building, don't focus on crap parked outside that you can go to a junkyard to photograph. I doubt the research site was a parking lot with a cabin.

I will however, get into that white truck and take pictures there. |
