wanted to post this as i'm not sure who around here might be interested and/or capable, i've got a possible project coming up that i'd need some advanced development help on. the project is a full-blown e-commerce site for a very cool business, and the really cool part is they have money and are willing to spend it. this is mostly theoretical right now, i'm going to be doing some design work for them and they've asked me to look into what it would take to do a site with a product catalog, online ordering, etc. if you've got the skills to handle the back-end of this and are interested (and honestly i'm probably going to have to kinda know you to be able to recommend anyone to them for this) shoot me a PM. thanks. chris |

If this was 6 months or so from now I could say yes if it was in php, but right now I am still getting a grip on it. C++? You should be able to get into the .net thing easily - Sidez. |

I've done some simple ASP/VB.NET stuff about a month ago, trying to teach my juniors. Its a little harder to code when most of the codes are generated by the IDE and less documentation. Plus, I don't have the dev tools here @ home. Web programming is alittle different from application programming, more security issues to take note of. I've not even completed my own php CMS for my portfolio :p |

I'm relearning PHP because, well, I don't think I ever learned it correctly to begin with, although I can read it and easily understand it. For my use of PHP in other websites, and friend and I tend to work together, and I tend to conceptualize. So, I guess that is the only area I could be as of any use in at this point in time. But it could also be a learning experience. ;)

I took a programming course last summer in asp3 and we hit on .net at the end. It has a built in iis server so you can test your code from the editor rather than installing a server. But it's only for VisualBasic and not C#... But... There are 2 or so strains of OpenSource .net IDE's out there now. and they are also in the works with a .net platform that is opensource for *nix machines. Go Mono is the IDE I have heard about and looked into. http://www.go-mono.com/ Not sure who is in charge now but it was started by the Ximian group. I wrote a how to on how to set up a asp.net developer for free, but not sure if it was pruned or not.... (goes to check) Here it is: http://www.teamphotoshop.com/forum/vbforum/showthread.php?t=9745 |

Hey Sidez, M$ is offering a free copy of their VB.net development software if you write reviews of the following movies: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/atthemovies/controls/default.aspx |
i must be the only person around here who's actually tired of web stuff and not learning anything
I'm with you. I suppose learning web development would make me a better person, but I have zero desire to learn it at all. If Dreamweaver can't easily do it for me, then I gotta get someone else to handle it. |
