...yesterday and last night? Poor Utica Illinois, and every other place that got hit by tornadoes. Utica's about, what, 35 miles SW of you? That's one big reason why I wouldn't like to live in the midwest. I wouldn't want to live with the possibility of that every season. |

We've had quite a few touchdowns this week in Iowa, but none within 25 miles of me. It's been a calm year up until now. Thought they said on the radio today that we can expect the tornado watches to continue all week. Utica is mightly close to Chicago, and tornados travel mostly from SW to NE, so if it was any bigger it may have made it to Chicago. ...and don't think you are in the clear ยต, check out this map: you are still in harms way: http://html.theiowachannel.com/sh/idi/weather/tornadoes/index-tornadoes.html |

Yeah we had the sirens pop off 5 times last night. Scarry crap. Up to 8 dead in Utica... And yeah, it's about 40 miles away. But we had 3 touch down within 15 miles, in 3 different directions. We were basically surrounded. |

Man out here in California we're expecting a huge earthquake by September. Predicted by a seismic guy over at UCLA who also predicted one in Japan. It's supposed to hit the desert area and effect some parts of Los Angeles. So, we'll see what the heck happens. But I've never been in a tornado.

Yeah, we get a few around here, but they don't have the wide-open spaceslike the midwest to develop into massive, long-lived monster funnels. Seeing one of those f4's, even in the distance would scare the jeebers outta me. I'm not scared of much, but there were some weather incidents when I was young that has instilled that fear in me. |

The only disasters here in singapore are human related. Just a few days ago a highway bridge collapse due to an underground train tunnel excavation.

Glad you're okay, Pank. Those are scary. Fascinating though... I used to be around Tornadoes, too - in Wyoming and Colorado - but I don't miss that stuff. I miss thunderstorms and moisture in the air, though... Only disasters here in LV are man made, too. Traffic, Construction, etc. |
