Hi people

I need your help.. Any designers in here?

I've concidered selling some of all the xtra stockphotos I take - At the moment I sell throuh iStockPhoto and iStockPro, but I'd like to sell collections..

So, I'm thinking about selling collections (.zip or something) through my site - packages with 20-50 images in each subject (blue skies, female beauty and stuff like that). All images will be over 1600 x 1200 px (up to 3372 x 2348 px)...
The payment would go through bitpass or something like that.

Would you pay $5-7 for at package like this? (and not $150-300 like other places)
Would you ever download a package like this if the images were of a very high quality?
Any questions?
Any suggestions?

Please help me

Hey Marble, thanx for your reply..

Yes $5-$7 per each package depending on total number of pictures.
The subscription thing could be great, I'll keep that in mind thanx

That's way too cheap.

Don't whore your talent, skills and services.

People won't respect you.

Not kidding.

This thread would fit better in the digital photography talk section About time something serious happened there...

As to your post:
I think collections are better sold to agencies. Regular designers (especially freelance) would rather buy separate images since they would most likely need a certain pic but no more of the same category. I am speaking from my own experience so it may not be the general rule but it makes sense that it would. If I don't own a pic that I need for a certain project I usually buy it from an agency. If I would afford - I'd buy a collection - but I'd much prefer a large collection, this way it would surely include more pics that I would presumably need at a later time. 20-50 images is a relatively low number. On the other hand your price is more that right for the quality (I saw your pics and they are great). Utopian is right - you're selling too cheap. As a designer I love the price but as a photographer (~wannabe) it kinda sucks to see such good pics go for so little money. If your target customers are agencies then utopian is absolutely correct - they'll never take you seriously with those prices. If on the other hand you're selling to freelance designers... then you're doing yourself a disfavor - sell each of the pics for the same price you would take for a package - 4-5 $ or even less - 2-3$ per pic - it's a low enough price that even the cheapest freelancer can afford (given a half-decent budget for the project at hand) and you're not giving away more pics than you need to. A subscription would be a nice idea too - but that is for people who plan ahead.... haven't seen many freelancers who do:D Half the fun in freelancing is wondering wether you'll starve next month so... a reccuring payment may not appeal much to those...

A personal curiosity: - the people pics you have - how do you manage to get model copyright releases? You just make them sign the paper and they agree? Or do you pay them? Why I'm asking is because I assume you don't pay them or pay them very little if you can afford to put the pics on Istock... Share your secret? Are they friends or something?

mihai is right (utopian as well) .. that's way to cheap consindering the quality of your images. You should consider your target audience, but im sure you allready did that.

on a personal note: new camera again? as i recall your current one is pretty new ;)

I'd buy all the pics you have @ that price, but nah. All your pics are top quality.

Oh yeah.. If i remember right, I may have used your "The ultimate stain collection" photo from Istockphoto.
