So I had to get a poster printed out of a font that I had to design and arrange in some cool fashion for my typography class. So I decided to go to kinkos for the first time in my life. I first checked out their site to see if I could do it online somehow, and to see if the files needed to be prepared in a certain way. I found their file prep tool and downloaded that. So Wednesday I walked into the nearest kinkos and gave the attendent my file. I wanted to get two posters because I wanted to keep one for record purposes. So the attendent set me up. I was getting a poster just under 30 inches for both the length and width (can't remember the actual dimensions). I was about to pay but she said I could just pay when I picked them up. And, the earliest I could pick them up would be this morning. So today I go in there and get them. The attendent unvailed them and they look good. Allthough I could cut a few inches of blank space off the length. She rings me up, and says 'Ok. That comes to a total of $129.26.' I was shocked, but of course paid. Now I think I have about 20 bucks in my account. Lesson learned. Ask what the cost will be for anything that you order to pick up at a later date. It seems like when I've ordered stuff, they told me what it was going to cost. And it seems like she should have definitely done it in this case, because when I walked up there to order them, I told her this was the first time I had done this so I don't know what I'm doing. Oh well. F-ing 130 bucks poorer, yet just a tad bit smarter. |

yep. It was glossy paper but the lady said that she charged me for unglossy instead (implying that I got a break on the price) there needs to be a smilie for a guy banging his head against the wall for this one. |

kinkos is a rip off indeed. Im pretty lucky that my school has a few large scale printers and the price is so much cheaper. Your poster probably would have cost 16 bucks each. I hate going to kinkos but sometimes I have to =\

Plus, almost every place you go will charge a minimum file-opening/set-up/check-to-make-sure-it'll work fee for each file.

Dude, get your teacher to reimburse you for part of the cost since it was an assignment. Worth a shot.
