Hi, newbie raygan here. No formal training in PS, only monitor calibrating software I used for my monitor was Displaymate (demo) so I can get my "greys" correct. My question: I'm getting a new pc room with adequate lighting this time. One window, monitor is facing away from the window. I read somewhere that the colors of the room affect how you see colors in your monitor. What color walls should I have? thanks Raygan www.pbase.com/raygan |

Yeah, you'll find it next to the dark grey, but not so dark as a medium grey with a hint of monotone lilac with a shade of light grey. I think it's made by Dulux ;)

In all seriousness, just choose a matte finish and a fairly neutral colour. Most colours will be fine as long as your monitor and ambient lighting is regulated frequently. Oh and welcome to the forum, hope you stick around (even given my level of advice).

i read a study somewhere where they put people in rooms of different colors, and told the people to leave when they were sick of the color. people stayed in the green room the longest.

They paint the walls in mental institutions green cause it's a very calming/soothing color. It's my favorite

I keep my walls an off-white since I leave the lights off and blinds down and shut all the time. The soft monitor glow gives my room a nice ambience.
