For the past week here at uni i've been trying to use the internet with a wireless card..normally its ok but now it's not. The problem is quite weird, i can log on, confirm my username and password to get through the firewall, but after browsing for almost exaclty 3 mins, the internet just stops. It's not the uni because nobody else is having the problem. I downloaded a Symantec Blaster Virus tool (didnt find anything) and also a MyDoom Cleanup tool from Symantex, but didnt find anything either. Any idea what the hell is wrong with my poor laptop? Nortan Antivirus just shows 4 AdWare threats. :( |

I dunno... stab in the dark. It could be an issue with your account at the university. Do you lose all network connectivity to the university, or only the internet? |

No its not a college problem :( I downloaded almost all the Symantec fixes for worms and found nothing. Norton 2004 (with update from the 12th of this month) found absolutely nothing. It's really strange..i dont get it at all. My computer is apparently virus and bug free. Could it be something to do with my browser? Similar problems arise with both Opera and Internet Explorer though.. it seems like a problem with the system's internet. Arggg :( I need the net so badly at the moment :(

once you lose interet, trying using a command prompt to ping a site like www.google.co.uk - if that works, than you may need to reinstall something ( windows ) |

Open command shell, type in: ping -c 4 www.somesitename.com // or ping -c 4 127.0.0.1 // use a real IP You can change the number '4' to something else. that is the number of packets it pings out. Not putting it in will ping forever. Hit cntrl-c (on a mac?) to cancel.... |

Oops, I just realised you are talking about a pc and not a mac..... For winders you just open your trusty wimpy windows shell - you can got start-->run-->cmd and then type in: ping 127.0.0.1 // or some other IP ping www.somesite.com // etc.... |
