You don't need real format to play video on cell phones and pda. Its already possible with 3GP and Mp4

I'm talking about an on-demand video service for news feeds and such.

Locally here, they're still in the testing mode of the 3G network. The video feeds are sent through using the 3GP format, which is if I'm not mistaken the current standard for wireless video.

Real Player sucks donkey nutz. It’s not like there’s someone forcing people to not use their product. Personally I go out of my way not to get near it.

Oh yeah, here's a Real Alternative for Windows users: http://www.dashes.com/anil/2004/01/08/a_real_alternat

It plays all the real stuff without the real player.

And like the comments in my other link say, the OSX version of Real Player isn't that bad. It just sits there waiting for you to start it. No pop-ups with ads and "news", doesn't try to steal the file associations from other apps, etc. Just plays Real files.

That's cause in Windows, every other program wants to steal any other programs' setting and crap. Its like a battle everytime someone is installed, whether its done by the user or some stinkin spyware.
