MAN! Lately because of this entire MyDoom virus thing going around I've been getting a crapload of emails with virus attachments like 10 or so a day. Anyone else getting a bunch of them? Just wondering because they new "version" of this virus was just "released" and I guess its really bad.

Just wondering if anyone else was getting 10+ virus filled emails a day like I am.

I did one day, got about 25. That was the only day. Simple mail options change on my host server, that was about it. All of the emails were sent to bunk addresses at my domain. I just made the default mail-catcher bounce anything that wasn't a true address. End of problem.

yeah, i've got this one email account, I get the newest virus versions on it for free everyday....

it is coincidentally also the only real email address i ever used to publish a Windows NT bug with back in the day......I guess they've got google-like bots running on bugtrack sites and newsgroups for email addresses and such....

Just through my mail manager on my site. I've got a default mailbox and then I have a couple of specific addresses set up. I did have the default, which handles anything not addresses to those specific addresses, to forward everything to my actual address. I just changed it to bounce anything that's not addressed to an actual email.

I get a lot of them too, but did the same thing as MBB and it reduced the amount a lot. A lot of them were being sent to and from random names at my domains. Like "frank@chattanoogadobermans.com", which obviously isn't a real address. So set those to bounce and most of it has stopped. I still get a few from people that have looked at my sites though, since the virus searches for email addresses in the address book and internet cache. You can setup message rules in your email program to automatically delete those too though.

I am not sure about Outlook, but if you might be able to set the bounce in your control panel for your mail. Depends I guess on who you use for email and what options are available on the control panel. I know Deker uses cPanel and one of the mail options is to set the "default" address when you get mail like b1gT33ts2398@yourdomain.com, you can set it to :fail: so those types of emails don't get passed the server.
