Yeah.. that's the nature of advertising and design business. Get proposal from x, y and z company... Reject all of them and use their ideas for your own. A friend of mine had a similar experience where her advertising proposal was rejected, then a few months later the company released an ad, similar to her idea

I remember one of my teachers was saying that every time her and her partner have to make a really big pitch to a company, they usually make a copy of their work and mail it to themselves. That way if they ever have to go to court they have a date unopened package of stuff they can show and say "Hey look we pitched this same idea awhile back."

Yup, mail it to yourself certified mail... It's good to do that with your demo cd also if you are in a band, before you mail it out to labels.

I understand the article but I dont understand how mailing something to yourself could help to protect yourself. Does it act as a valid datestamp, so that you can prove you had the idea before company x releases something similar?

If you get it certified mail and do not ever open it unless the judge does. But new copyright law says that doesn't have any weight anymore. (Probably because they want to to buy a copyright)....

In britain...... because the post stamp is Royal Mail then aslong as it has been stamped by a Royal mail Date stampt and unopened then it is legal :D |
