I hear a lot about this and people seem to have a wide range of political opinions here. Educate me about the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement and how it affects the involved nations.

Well... It's like this, the NAFTA agreement is meant to be a system whereby tariffs are rescinded for transactions taking place between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. As I understand it, it's mainly an effort to raise the market value of each countries currency, and perhaps ultimately unify the 3 currency systems into one. It's an agreement similar to that of the European Union. The NAFTA agreement, unlike the European Union, is not an ease of border restrictions and will not rescind immigration retraints between the 3 countries. It is just a commerce agreement for the present, but some see it as the type of system that wil evolve into an 'American Union' agreement, which will result in a multinational currency, and perhaps later a withdrawal of border restrictions and a proliferation of free trade between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. |
