What software would you guys recommend for an e-commerce site. I have looked at a few,and installed agora and OScommerce, I hated agora, but OScommerce was pretty cool. Is there any outstanding e-commerce software that I should know about though?

Deker likes OScommerce. I know nothing about OSCommerce.
I like Miva. Miva is pretty spendy for small mom-and-pop-type operations though.

I hate Miva...

OSCommerce is decent, but a pain in the ass to customize. www.eshox.com isn't free but is very easy to customize.

That's one thing I don't like about Miva, is that it's a pain in the ass to customize. Miva is the bad-boy end of ecommerce software. It will do it all, but for a cost. Does such things as inventory tracking, integrated USPS/UPS/FedEx shipping, unlimited number of payment modules, support for 1024-bit security keys, mailing list, affiliate program, my fingers are getting sore, you get the point.

OSCommerce can do all of that stuff... don't know about the 1024encryption, but everything else it can do either out of the box or with contributions...

If you're willing to put in the time, OSCommerce has a large development community for an open source package, and the price is right. Dek has me interested in eShox; it's built (somewhere in it's history) on the OSCommerce source. But the developer, Ben Harper, bundling it has modified it significantly at this point. One of the main advantages I see is the way he implemented Templates and Skins in eShox. The template is built in HTML, and the PHP renders the pages based on that template. To add a 'skin' that you can just click and change on a live site from the Admin panel, you simply create another Template and put it in the right directory. But... it costs.
