Ok so the googlebot is mad. He's hungry as hell and there isnt any food on my site (damn flash). I dont want an html version of my site though (if i wanted damn html...i would have used it the first time lol ) so im left to more creative options. In the web section I created a photo site as a sub-site of my port. Though it wont be used.....i really like the idea of having a sub-site for extra crap....so this has spawned my current idea...... a resource/tut site. Now what i have to offer on this site is: - An About section (this would be the spider food.....) - a tutorial section (not your general PS tuts....) - a Making Of section (for tuts on my work) - and a links section (which i wanted to add to my portfolio.....but i dont want ppl leaving my port. so this is an another excuse for links :D ) Anyway....when it comes down to it.......right now i would have about 2 tutorials and 3 Making Of's plus the about section. The problem is......that aint enough to fill a site. So im looking for any info on how to fix the situation? For example....other kinds of content i could offer, or any space filling fluff or any ideas how i could modify a design (which i dont have yet) to compensate for the lack of content. Maybe i could add a gallery section...and just link to the pics i have now in my port?? though thats the main reason behind my port.....like if someone could see them there....why go to my full site?? |

If you really can't think of something to add, then don't add it. If you're having to ask us how to come up with "filler" content, then you probably shouldn't be adding anything anyway as it will be totally invaluable to anyone. I mean if you have something good to add, add it, but don't just try to come up with "filler" content just for the sake of taking up space.

Yah I don't normally go to sites because of the size but instead because of the quality of info or other useful stuff.

Yeah I understand your point. Also id be pretty pissed at myself for wasting bandwith if my content wasnt quality.(fluff was probably not a good word to use lol). Its just there is no room in my portfolio for extra content, and the extra content i would have isnt enough for a full design. So either my page is going to be really empty, really freakin small, or very graphics heavy (which i dont want.....cause if im offering tutorials......i want it usable). So im stuck between a design and a hard place. I guess i'll just have to experiment like crazy. Also the sections i listed in my first post....arent space fillers (just for the record). I have the content already and planned a long time ago to add it.....just never did when I built my port. |
