Usergroups allow you to set up, well, specified groups. You can set permissions for users who are a member of that group which are seperate from other members. So like if you wanted a group of people to only moderate one forum, you can set up a usergroup, assign the permissions and associate the usergroup to that forum. Or if you only wanted certain people to have access to a private forum, etc. Reputation is a wasted addon like post count. I learned that over at SitePoint. If you make a good post, or a bad post, people can give you positive or negative rep depending on your post. The higher your rep is is supposed to distinguish your posts from others. If you have a ton of negative rep well then your posts probably stink. If you have alot of positive rep, it will show people you're a good contributor to the board. So the theory goes anyway. |
