I just edited a PSD and saved the changes...and then I closed PS and just now realized I needed the old version of the file and I edited crap I can't get back.

Is there any way to recover the file?

nope ..

i hope not, because then i have done a lot of extra work in my starting period ;)

once you close the document, you delete the history .. In the new Photoshop CS you can save different states of the layout though .. manually ..

Dang.

I *usually* save several versions of the same thing. Like, I'll be going along on something, and I'll think "Dang. I like that", but here, where most people would save, I, instead make a new document, via the current state. The icon for that is the one on the left at the bottom of the history pallette. Then, I close the original, as is, or I go back to where it was closer to the original design, but still had some characteristic that I wanted to keep. Now, you have the new document, that you can do whatever the hell you want to, and ultimately, you can just delete one of the 2 versions, depending on what you decide on/the client decides one/whatever.

You don't know if that's what I said? What the hell does that mean? What I said was create a new document via current history state. the biggest word there is 8 letters long.

A translation, if necessary is as follows:

At the bottom of the history pallette (window), there are 3 icons. The first one (on the left) will make a COPY of the image. This is called *Duplicate State*. It will make a copy of the image you hav in front og you right then. Now, if you so choose, you may decide not to save the changes you made to the original. Either way, you will have a COPY, that you can do whatever you want with.
