Yah I think its great for those of us who hate the coding but love the designing aspect. It speeds the process up.

well, i had installed it, used it for about 20 min and when the table wouldn't ever stay 100% of the browser's height it became quite irritating. so i'm back on regular mx now.

Honestly, dreamweaver has become quite bloated over the years. I still prefer the DW3/4 layout where its just what I needed, a place to code and view to see if the layout is what I wanted. Most of the time, I use dreamweaver because of the complex tables I need to create which is probably only dw can do when compared to most webeditors in the market now. I get to use DW2004 @ work. I like that they've included the CSS built in instead of using font tags like the previous versions did. Makes it a whole lot less programs to use(topstyle) for formatting. |

I use Dreamweaver because it really speeds up the process. It kinda feels like cheating at times, but I know all the code. It's not like I don't know html or css or anything - I'd just rather check a box and choose from a drop-down list than type like 40 characters. hey sidez - what do you mean that CSS is included? its included in mx...? tom |

MX 2004 Bugs: =========== Always adds extra <%@LANGUAGE= tags in the code, which forces the page to error out. The only way to fix is to manually go in the code EVERY TIME YOU SAVE THE PAGE and manually remove the line =========== When working with databases, it often adds extra connection include files, which if they carry any ASP variables, the page will error out. =========== If you open too many pages it will shut down without warning. =========== MMRepeatRegion doesn't work for ASP the first time you place one on the page, if you have multiple regions and if you don't understand DW proprietary code, you can't fix it) =========== DW will often, when making repeat regions in ASP, name them the same, which will cause the page to crash. The only way to fix is to manually go back in and edit the code, which will in turn cause DW to NOT recognize your repeat regions anymore. =========== Nested DIV tags will sometimes cause DW to display the code as if though it has errors (yellow highlight) even though it does not =========== DWMX2004 continually asks me if I'd like to turn on "Contribute" compatibility for a sites, even though I don't own Contribute and have never used Contribute on any of the sites =========== Studio MX 2004 upgrade does not remove any previous versions of Studio, so you are left with 2 bulky versions of a program, one version which I should never have to use again, so why leave it? I uninstalled MX 2004 and reinstalled multiple times, mainly to fix DW problems, but also to see if it asked me if I'd like to remove Studio MX, but it does not. I'm afraid to uninstall the old version as I'm afraid it may break the new version. ============ This isn't a bug, just a bad design flaw: When I have multiple CSS styles created, and I use the drop-down menu to select a style to apply to a block of text, if the styles specify the font color as white, then I cannot make 1 style out from the next. I have 4 or 5 different styles where the font color is white, and I cannot distinguish one from the other ============= Now please realize that this list may seem a little long, but realize that I've only used this program for about a month, so I'm sure it will get a LOT LONGER in the coming months. Oh, and on a side note, another gripe about Macromedia: We have Studio MX. I only wanted Dreamweaver from the MX2004 suite rather than the entire Studio package, but Macromedia will not allow you to purchase Dreamweaver the upgrade price if you own Studio MX rather than just Dreamweaver. And the MX2004 upgrade cost about the same as the full version of Dreamweaver, so we were forced to purchase the upgrade of Studio MX 2004. I hate you Macromedia. (And people think Microsoft is greedy, psh) |

Like when you select a whole table and set the font for it.. or highlight a bunch of text, instead of the usual font tags they set for those individually, MX 2004 will create css tags for the td tags and it becomes universal. So you don't have to redo the text formatting again ;) .. Its in the 2004 MX version, not the plain MX. |

OK - I get it. Does it put in < em > and < strong > tags, or does it use CSS for that, too (like if you highlight text and go ctrl-B)? And does it make the CSS for you locally (< style >) or in a separate .css file? tom |

I prefer www.textpad.com as I have gotten a pretty good grasp of XHTML and CSS. It's free, I learn more about what I am doing, and did I mention it doesn't put me out a hundred and some bucks?
