http://www.refwid.org/

I am basically re-organizing the site. They don't want a new design but they want me to fix up their current one.

Here are the things I am going to change:
1)The pics and the block/pixel text down the right-hand side.

2) The motion GIF near the content.

3) Get rid of the pointless gfx on the right side of the content and replace it with the picture that is down the side (on the left, below the menu).

4) Possibly make it a liquid layout.

Any other suggestions?

at a glance i'd say...

- kern the text on the section graphics/headers
- unbevel/emboss the main header text

if possible i'd prob lose the tahoma/verdana (whichever it is, i haven't been awake that long) everywhere and use either a simpler sans serif like arial or helvetica or use a variant of the serif typeface in the header. the current typeface is just too big and bulky, kinda overpowers the layout.

Maybe do something else with the navigation? I don’t like how they have these geometric shapes next to the buttons and then the rest of their site like their logo and the borders at the top and bottom for example are more organic and curved.

looks pretty good, but there's always some nitpicking, right?

IMO, go with either the pixel-style or the blurry blue/white style, but not both. Neither are bad, but I think it would look a little more professional if you turn back the graphic design a bit.

Stress your content at a site like this, not your photoshop skills. Think about the average joe visitor.

Nice job, overall.

I didn't design the site. I am just fixing it for them. I have no idea who originally did the site but now they want this one fixed up.
