Look what the FedEx man brought me, Finally! It was supposed to be here yesterday but it got delayed in customs in Anchorage, Alaska. The poor little thing. I hope he didn't catch a cold or virus because of the cold weather. Oh wait... Macs don't get viruses... :P

So anyway I plugged it in and it connected to the internet through the router and PC based network here at work while it was setting up, which was before it even completely booted up. Registered with Apple and everything...

Put in my .Mac info, synced.. So now all of my contacts, mail settings, Safari bookmarks, etc are already set up on this machine.

Plugged in the digital camera I used to take pics while I was opening it... It started iPhoto, copied all the pictures into a new album...

I had taken other pics of the opening and copied them to the PC before I had the PowerBook booted, so I went to the system prefs in the PowerBook and enabled Windows Sharing. One checkbox... Then I got on the PC and went to the IP address that the PowerBook gave me... I logged in and could see my home directory on the Powerbook. So i dragged over the folder with the first set of pictures to my Powerbook desktop... Then dragged that onto iPhoto on the powerbook. It imported them all nicely into a new album...

Then I selected all of the images and pressed the "homepage" button which uploaded them to my .Mac homepage with the frame borders I chose and everything.

And so now you can see my new powerbook and me opening it, complete with a bad picture of myself at the end!!

Wow! *literally hugs his mac, since it's so damn small and totally huggable*

Oh and don't hate me. I don't mean to brag. I'm just excited... to everyone that wants one, keep saving or get a loan or rob a bank or something! it's totally worth it! to all the die-hard pc guys that will make some stupid comment in this thread, shut up. ;)

You should really be thinking of those less fortunate than yourself right now. Like me, who has thousands of songs on his poor little PC, with no iPod...and no iBook... :(

If it offends you to look at some pictures I linked to, please, by all means, don't click on the link.

haha, thats great ^_^

sounds easy .. but the first time you get a mac, youll still need to get into what you can do.. sounds super-sweet with the sync. file thingie.. where you just copy a file and then the computer practicly is the same as the other ^_^

but thats a sweet little baby.. congrats !!

*shuts up before other things comes in mind*

Love the idea of getting a Mac and this only makes me want a spanking new G5 even more. The only bad things is I have thousands of pounds worth of PC applications that I pretty much saved most of my working life for, I simply can't afford to buy software for a Mac too.

I still want a G5 or a quality Powerbook like yours.

Oh and yes, add me to the list of your detractors ;)

well i can print to our laser printer now, which goes through a router and is connected to an old pc running windows 98.

And I can see the files on the shared directories of the PC's, and vice versa.

I just opened itunes on the PC and itunes on the Mac, and now i'm playing songs that are in the itunes library on the PC through the mac... Very cool.
