Hey everyone! Long time no see...i'm still keeping one eye on the forum but i'm not doing much talking, mainly becuase i have no time. College here in england is really great. 50% of the course is digital stuff (3DS Max & PS) and the other 50% is all arty stuff..collage, sketching etc. I'm living on campus so it's great, college life rocks! Anyway, i just thought i'd pop by and show you some, and i mean only some, of the stuff i'm doing. We have one 3 hour long workshop in 3DS Max every week and we are given an assigment each week. An overall assesment of the weekly assignments will take place after christmas. Most of the pics below have taken around 2 days in total to do. This is my first time ever using 3DS Max. I have found the transition from C4D pretty easy. Sorry about the geocities links, ican't use FTP programs here at college, stupid Wireless Firewall thing of doom. These are in chronological order, the first scene being my first ever scene in max. http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/table1.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/table2.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/table3.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/table4.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/table5.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/fish.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/week1backweb.jpg http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/week1frontweb.jpg The following image was done last night in a speed modelling competition lasting 2 hours. So this is a 2hour work.. http://www.geocities.com/cyblingv2/aidan.jpg Please vote for the above image! I can win a crate of beer if you vote. To vote, go to our website, www.3dhit.co.uk join the forum, go into showcase/finished work and vote in the speedmodeling thread! Thanks and any comments/crits are great! I have an extended 3D project soon in which i will fully complete a 3D scene. I never have time in one week to complete the assignments. Oh well! Your turn Chris! cyb |

Hey cybling, I think through my host I could set you up a subdomain with a little non-ftp service. I'd have to look into it if you are intersted. (It would be on me too.)

tried to post before and then browser windows got possessed and i'm not quite sure what happened. anyways... ;) aidan, good stuff man. i esp like the mini-in-progress, looks great. look like you're modeling point-by-point, building polys as you go? tedious but it works, you've nailed the shape so far. the fish is nice too, textures are nice. the room needs some work i think, i want to see more with the surfacing there but its a decent start. looking forward to seeing more, are you just focusing on modeling now or will there be animation soon with the coursework? as far as me, i finished up the soccer ball project but it ended up being less exciting than anticipated, deadline came up (on the video side, not my end) so i just did a quick roughed out animation that was comped into the spot. planning to do a beauty shot when i have the time with some nice surfacing and textures. at the moment i've decided to really focus more on character animation, debating and exploring a bit with motion builder 4 and the maya 5 ple. not sure if i'll have the cash to get the full motion builder 5 upgrade by end of the year or not, we shall see. drop me an e-mail when ya get a chance, we'll chat chris |

Apologies for the images not working. I checked them and they seem fine..just copy and paste people! msz, thanks for the offer! That would be great..i could just keep uploading my images...all my pics are like 70k anyway so it won't take up anything. Just once it's not ftp, my uni doesn't allow it. Chris, yeah i know the table scene needs lots of work...i did it in 2 days though in fairness..and by theni had only been using Max for 1 week! I'd love to finish it off and probably will next summer. Im seriously thinking of getting MB 5 by the end of the year. I paid for the first one so i get the upgrade for just $100 :D . Keep postoing your stuff up chris and yes, definitely get into character animation. I play with the standard skeleton model you're supplied with in MB 4 all the time! I have to learn Character Studio now. This year we will not be animating anything...this year is more artistic and based around modelling and texturing and lighting. Thanks for the input, nice to hear from you all! I'm still around modding as much as i can too Now i gotta hand in my 6000 word essay on animation semiotics...yay! |
