Oh man... Ok, I had been asking a bunch of my friends recently when they were last really hyped about an upcoming movie. Most of them, myself included, couldn't really remember. Let's face it people, Matrix Revolutions was a disappointment. Less so to some people, but nonetheless a disappointment. Now, I'm one to give movies the benefit of the doubt. I mean, I despite my best efforts, got suckered into being one of the 11 people to go see The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen on it's opening weekend. I also saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre opening weekend as well. Suffice it to say, that aside from The Matrix sequels, there have been no really big movies that I've been really psyched up about (Except LOTR). Then, I found out what we have to look forward to in the near future. Transformers: The Movie, G.I. Joe: The Movie (Both live action), Hellboy the movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (CGI, directed by John Woo), Goonies 2, Batman 5 (Tentatively titled Intimidation Game) You can find out something about the Transformers movie here, the GI Joe movie here, and Batman here. teh Hellboy preview is already running, so google to find that one. I have to tell you though, this has like, rekindled my faith in movies. I mean, TRANSFORMERS?! Not to mention the possibility of a Hobbit movie coming out sometime soon, as well as Terminator 4, Spider Man 2, X-Men 3, Fantastic 4 AND Star Wars: Episode 3. The Golden Age has returned, everyone. |

ummm...yeah not that i mind the ideas behind most of the films you mentioned, but calling them a golden age is a bit of a stretch (putting it nicely). while they're all great ideas the translation from great idea/story/comic to good movie is a poor track record at best. it sounds like they're doing the next batman flick right (bout time) and hellboy looks really promising but a lot of the other stuff is gonna be pretty hit or miss imo. if episode 3 isn't dark and intense i'm gonna kill somebody ;) chris |

Not to be a real a$sh0le... but the movies that you're hyped about I find to be future pieces of crap. I mean, movies after toys? What?!?!? Movies after comic books are OK.. X-Men was pretty decent. The Hulk blew. So did Spiderman. Now, the Goonies. One of the best first ones... why make a sequel nearly 20 years later? It just can't be outdone. A remake.. eh, maybe. But NOT a sequel. It's like making a Casablanca 2. Star Wars I can't vow for... I was never a fan. I just don't see Lucas's "brilliance" or his "genius". Matrix Revolutions was horrendous. Maddox basically sums it all up for me: http://maddox.xmission.com/c.cgi?u=matrix3 Sorry, I don't share your feelings on these future films. |

I think the transformers and gi joes ones are destined to fail, even without knowing anything about them. sure i could be surprised, but i'm certainly not getting excited about it. or terminator, never liked any of those. the only one i'm excited about is the return of the king. other than that i wouldn't say i'm "excited" about any of them.

I know, the golden age was nothing but an intentional overstatement, but you gotta figure, as Tele said, Optimus Prime, on film has gotta be sweet. . I know some of these films are obviously going to be mediocre, but they'll be, if nothing else, somewhat entertaining. |
