I'm sure this has been discussed before but I've never paid attention because I've never had a problem with it. And I don't really have a problem now, its just kinda getting annoying.

As many of you know, I have two computers - one with PS and one with Internet. The one with PS has something on it called Coloreal. I don't really know what it is, but I think its something that allows my monitor to view colors on select websites very accurately. Like when buying t-shirts or flowers or houses or something (I have no idea).

When I open PS, it says that the Coloreal ¤thing¤ appears to be defective and that PS won't use it. Alright - I could care less. But then my designs end up looking slightly different on my monitor up here (could just be brightness/contrast). I don't really care about that. But I'm worried about what other people see in my colors. Like some people find some of the layouts I've made completely repulsive because the colors are green instead of orange. It's slight, but obivously enough to make a difference. (It also probably doesn't help that Im slightly red/green colorblind, but please dismiss that fact for the time being.)

How would I go about calibrating my monitor so that its the same as most everyone else's? Any tips or hints regarding my situation? Thanks.

tom

In my experience (what ever that is worth), once I get Adobe Gamma program run with my monitor I don't see much variation.

You could try just deleting that program, then running Adobe Gamma to correct your settings?

Sounds like the tube in your monitor may be going bad? I've never heard of the color settings being that far off.

I know that Pantone has a color calibration software thats great. I know it calibrates the colors on your screen to how they would look when printed. I'm not quite sure if it would fix your problem though.

It's not really all that bad - when I said orange to green I meant really slightly. Like the navbar on this site looked really nice and orange:

Oh well. I'm look for the installation CD for Coloreal, but I don't think I have it. It came on the computer. There's like a sticker on the computer and monitor advertising it and all its uses. :blah:

How worrying, the navbar on that site looks green to me, a yellow-green but green nonetheless.

Also go to your settings in PS and change them to color settings off.
